November Special Workshops at One Yoga

Stephanie Schultz

We are excited to offer several special workshops at One Yoga in November! All workshops will take place at the One Yoga studio, 2637 27th Ave S, Suite 207, Minneapolis, MN 55406. All workshops are priced on a sliding scale. Please select a rate that works best for you when registering.

Sunday, November 5, 1:00-3:00pm

It is not unusual for people to develop a case of the "blues” and increased anxiety as the seasons change. This is particularly true for those of us who experience the deep, dark winters of Minnesota. Though this workshop is not designed to diagnose or treat mental illness, students will learn how yoga supports improved mental health. At its foundation, this workshop is about connection. Connect to the individual student's body/mind, the teacher, and the other students in class. We will use movement, breathwork, journaling, and discussion to this end. Please join us for a 2-hour introductory workshop for improved mental health and wellbeing.

My Brothers Heal with Chance York

Saturday, November 11, 1:30-3:00pm

My Brothers Heal is an intro to yoga exclusively for Black men. The pressures of being a Black man in America come from all directions. Though yoga is an excellent practice of self-care, stress reduction and mental health for everyone, there are very few spaces where Black men can practice among their peers. This class is a celebration of being Black, powerful, and healthy. Learn to better love the way you are and where you aim to go.

New Moon Sound Bath with Tamiko French

Monday, November 13, 7:30-9:00pm

Be engulfed in an expansive environment of sound intended to realign your vibrational energy centers. Sound healing is an ancient concept, also known as sound meditation or sound bathing. Sound healing can reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep, create a deep sense of wellbeing, and promote healing that goes well beyond simple relaxation. During this workshop, come be open to the sounds of the gong, Tibetan singing bowls, tongue drum, sansula, chimes, buffalo drum, shakers, and handpan surrounding you for 45 minutes lying down or sitting.

Stress is a natural part of human evolution that gives us energy to respond to challenging situations. When we’re balanced, it naturally subsides. When we’re imbalanced, it can become chronic, adversely affecting our lives and causing many health issues (including anxiety) which are epidemic today. In many ways, stress defines the modern human condition. Yoga sees anxiety as the call to change a life that is out of balance. While living with stress and anxiety may feel overwhelming, you are not powerless against it. As holistic, time-tested sciences, Yoga and Ayurveda provide time-tested means to care for our well-being, while understanding, transforming, and healing the root causes of stress and anxiety.
