January 2024 Workshops at One Yoga:

with Angela Vincent

Saturday, January 6 | 2:00-4:00pm | in-person

Through movement, meditation, journaling, and communal ritual we will explore what it is we are called to release and renew at this unique moment in our lives. In this context, ritual space is a gathering of people in a community to deeply listen and be genuinely present to themselves and one another. There will be a shared set of actions to invite a sense of Release and Renewal to support us in the New Year.

It is not unusual for people to develop a case of the "blues” and increased anxiety as the seasons change. This is particularly true for those of us who experience the deep, dark winters of Minnesota. Though this workshop is not designed to diagnose or treat mental illness, students will learn how yoga supports improved mental health. At its foundation, this workshop is about connection. Connect to the individual student's body/mind, the teacher, and the other students in class. We will use movement, breathwork, journaling, and discussion to this end.

My Brothers Heal is an intro to yoga exclusively for Black men. The pressures of being a Black man in America come from all directions. Though yoga is an excellent practice of self-care, stress reduction and mental health for everyone, there are very few spaces where Black men can practice among their peers. This class is a celebration of being Black, powerful, and healthy. Learn to better love the way you are and where you aim to go.

This unique 2-hour experience will include a guided practice (movement, meditation, and guided relaxation), time for journaling, and gathering in circle with women to connect with one another and build community. The January theme is "embracing the new year, crystallizing your vision."

This gentle session invites caregivers to release tension, embrace stillness, and rejuvenate the mind and body. Through supported poses and mindful breathing, participants discover profound relaxation, fostering resilience and self-care. Tailored for caregivers' unique needs, this class provides a peaceful haven to replenish energy and promote overall well-being. This session is for anyone who identifies as a caregiver: whether that’s professionally, personally, or informally. You could be a caregiver to children, parents, siblings, or animals. If you are at all responsible for someone else’s well-being, this is for you.

Be engulfed in an expansive environment of sound intended to realign your vibrational energy centers. Sound healing is an ancient concept, also known as sound meditation or sound bathing. Sound healing can reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep, create a deep sense of wellbeing, and promote healing that goes well beyond simple relaxation.

Our book club, Seeds of Justice, is designed to be a safe and inclusive space for exploring themes related to racial and social justice through the lens of yoga and mindfulness practices. Our intention is to foster meaningful conversations, inspire self-reflection, and collectively move toward a more just and compassionate world that is not for justice but rooted in justice. This offering will be held monthly on the 4th Monday of every month.
