Black History Month Spotlight: James Orione

February is Black History Month, and we are amplifying voices and faces that are underrepresented in yoga.

This first week of February we are spotlighting James Orione! Besides teaching weekly Vinyasa and Hatha classes at One Yoga, James also leads classes through his organization Bridges Through Yoga.

James is currently hosting a BIPOC yoga class on Mondays at 6:30pm in-person at the Center for Performing Arts and virtually on Zoom. These classes are for those who identify as BIPOC to gather, be in community with each other, move the body, breathe, and explore mindfulness practices. This 60-minute class is an all-levels yoga practice, and all bodies and experience levels are welcomed. Vaccine and booster proof required prior to attending in-person classes.

James is also leading the very cool (literally!) FROGA at the Art Shanties on Bde Unma / Lake Harriet! The final Saturday of Froga is this weekend on February 5 at 2:30pm, with a special BIPOC-only class on Sunday, February 6 at 10:30am. Come experience yoga on a frozen lake with conversations around social and racial justice.

Thank you, James, for all you do at One Yoga and for our community in Minneapolis.
